Rocky 12/26/11 update & new pics!
Jan 2012 - looks like Rocky won't be leaving his foster home ! He's working his way into Angelo & Janet's hearts! Gotta work on the other family members now (other fuzzy ones that is LOL!)

ROCKY update 12/26: Yes, this REALLY is the same dog that was a walking skeleton & dragged by SUV! We cannot thank Angelo & Janet & their grandson Chris for loving & caring & working with Rocky! He's one grateful guy, too! 2 new pics below!
Rocky has put on weight and looks like a dog. He is fitting in the pack and learning dog social skills with the help of my other two dogs. Grandson Chris has taught him to catch and has him sitting. He is not eating everything in sight and I suspect the wolfing treats will stop soon. Rocky is a high energy dog and needs a lot of attention. He is also very protective and an excellent watch dog. On the down side, he howls off key!

ROCKY! German Shepherd dragged update 12/16/11
The gorgeous GSD that was dragged last week by a man in Lancaster, SC is doing well! He is gaining weight & has been released by the vet to go to his foster home! He is only half the weight he should be but with lots of love, care, & food he will be there in a few months or so. His wounds are healing and he has been vetted already (vaccines, neutered, micro-chipped); the heart worm issue will wait until he is stronger. His sister has also been vetted and is gaining weight & doing great! We all expect them to make a full recovery physically. Mentally & if any permanent damages from starvation and heart worms only time will tell. But they are both very loving, grateful dogs. Sweet kind souls!! Thank you all for the continued support & prayers!
German Shepherd dragged by SUV in Lancaster, SC
If you haven't heard...a young adult male German Shepherd was dragged by a mentally challenged man "walking" him by inserting the lead into his hatch of his SUV & not realizing he was dragging the dog. This is the newspaper report below to see.
HSLSC (Humane Society of Lancaster SC) has taken the dog into our care & to our vet & he has stayed the weekend there as he is severely malnourished & underweight along with road rash on all 4 legs/paws, his hips, etc. He is also heart-worm positive.
Well, when we went to pick him up from Lancaster AC we found out that his sister(?) was also surrendered, so we have taken her into care, too. She is malnourished & underweight, but not as bad as he is. She is also heart-worm positive :(. He weighs only 48lbs & she weighs 45lbs right now.
We would not be able to do this if it were not for the WONDERFUL donors we have! We thank you all dearly for all you all do!!
The female is in foster care & has already become a foster failure, her foster mom will be adopting her!
The male, we have found temporary foster care for when he can leave our vets & will take adoption applications on him but he will not go to a home until we are sure he is able.
We are NOT excusing what the man did but feel the person that left them with him should also be charged, but that is in the hands of the law. We will do all we need to for the dogs to get furever loving homes (female has hers already! :))!)
What we are asking is if everyone can help spread the word about them, we hope there are no other underlying issues, the heartworm issue will be hard enough. But will know more as a little time passes & hope they both gain some weight.
If anyone can help, every dollar helps believe me, please go to our website & donate. I know many of you are rescuers & you need all you have but maybe someone you know can help, please pass this along :) www.savelancasterscpets.org
