Please see our documents page tab or adoption app & contract tab above for the adoption application and email it to us at adoptions@savelancasterscpets.org so we can check your references and have you preapproved for your next family member!! We will then make arrangements to meet with you & with the pet(s) you are interested in.
Regular adoption fee for pups/dogs is $150 and $100 for cats/kittens, which, age appropriate, includes spay/neuter & microchip with our vet & spay/neuter clinic scheduling. Adoption fees may vary depending on the pets history or circumstances. Some older pets may be less if we do not have to do much to get them adoptable. We are not in this to make money, any funds over what we may have in one dog/cat go towards other that we have more than the adoption fee in their care. We try to keep fees as low as possible, insure good homes that are able to care for the pets, as well as continue to provide for more pets. Please inquire about adoption fee if not stated. Some adoption fees may be from $50 to $300 depending on the pet.
Once in a while we will save a purebred pet & we will charge a higher adoption fee for them as the circumstances allow. This money that is "extra" is in no way "extra", believe us, we can show anyone how much it costs a "normal" pet to a hard luck case to be able to be ready for adoption. We don't have "extra" money, all that is collected/donated for HSLSC goes to the pets we save in one way or another. Be it food, vet care, supplies, etc.
Call your vet & check how much testing, vaccinating, deworming, & spay/neuter would cost just for starters. Let's not forget the matted dog that had added grooming, the sick pup that required another $100 in vet care, or the pup with a broken leg that cost another $400+ to have it taken care of after $85 in x-rays.....now is $150 really too much for a vaccinated, dewormed, tested, & altered pet????
