Application is NOT a guarantee of adoption, we must review it and do reference checks, home checks, etc. then, once approved, you are able to adopt. We must insure proper homes for each rescue we take in and appreciate your honesty. We want happy 'FUREVER' homes!! PLEASE ask for adoption fee for each pet, as they will vary from approx $50 - $300+ depending on the pet.
Normally we only ask $200 for dogs/puppies or $150 for cats/kittens, but sometimes we must ask more for some. Some we have hundreds of dollars in & we are in this to find great homes, we loose money on most adoptions but are extremely grateful to our donors that allow us to do all we can. Any money over our requested adoption fee is appreciated :)!
We did have to increase our adoption fee slightly due to rising cost everywhere, but still if you call & ask a vet for all that we include you will be amazed :)!
Regular adoption fee for pups/dogs is $200 and for cats/kittens $150 which includes, age appropriate, up to date vaccines, spay/neuter & microchip with our vet. (plus so much more see below :)!) Pets not old enough for s/n must return to our vet for s/n & microchip when old enough. Our vet is in Matthews, NC. FAILURE TO SPAY/NEUTER ALLOWS HSLSC TO REPOSSESS THE PET(S) with NO reimbursement for adopter. Spay/neuter is required by State LAW when adopting from any rescue or shelter. Adoption fees may vary depending on the pets history or circumstances. Some older pups/dogs may be less if we do not have to do much to get them adoptable. We are not in this to make money, any funds over what we may have in one dog/cat go towards other that we have more than the adoption fee in their care. We try to keep fees as low as possible, insure good homes that are able to care for the pets, as well as continue to provide for more pets. Please inquire about adopt fee if not stated.

____2) Must spay/neuter pet, by age 6 months, unless otherwise stated for medical reasons: pets adopted over 6 months of age must be s/n within a month of adoption.
____3) No cats may EVER be declawed (ask for training info please - Vick's vapor rub is great!)
____4) Cats adopted out for indoor only homes unless otherwise stated.
____5) Dogs must be leash walked or contained on your property legally.
____6) If EVER you cannot keep your adopted pet you must first contact HSLSC for placement, if possible, fostering while we find a new home.
____7) Must agree to provide adequate food, water in a bowl of sufficient size or depth to prevent over heating or freezing, shelter from the elements, flea & heartworm preventative, lots of love, & medical attention as needed.
____8) I agree to obey leash laws and keep my pet up todate on vaccines.
____9) If found in violation of this agreement you agree to pay all costs involved to remedy the situation as well as court costs and surrendering of the pet to HSLSC.
