HSLSC is still here helping save lives, assisting LAC & the rescues that save from there, offering spay/neuter at a reasonable cost, offering pet food for those is dire need as well as pet food to Meals on Wheels recipients and hospice patients. We are seeking corporate sponsorship, grants for a site for HSLSC, and spay/neuter grants for Lancaster! Along with MANY other things we do and have already done for our county! ** SUNDAY, JULY 18 Crossroads offers a service of Blessings of the Animals at 9:30am on the church lawn. All who wish to have an animal blessed are invited to be at Crossroads at 9:30am. At that time Crossroads Lutheran Men in Mission will present a gift to the Humane Society of Lancaster, SC. Our LMM held a yard sale June 19 that generated $500. A portion of this gift will be presented to Mrs. Christina Schmittle, Crossroads summer Pathways program coordinator. At the conclusion of these special activities everyone is invited inside for the morning worship service. (please use your best judgement as for bringing pets inside)

PET FOOD is always needed as we supply some for the Meals on Wheels patients and Milo's Friends for Hospice patients, along with those that call in need. We REALLY could use more dog harnesses as some of the rescue have never had a collar on the harness makes it so much easier to try to leash train the rescues! All sizes!! Mostly Medium size dogs, 30-50 lbs.

The money left over & items left over were suppose to go to Lancaster Animal Control as of Jan 2009 & it has STILL not all been turned over. Now the community must DEMAND that the COUNTY DEMAND these funds & items be turned over! Last known value was in excess of $5000!! Please contact your Councilman & DEMAND something be done!
***Well, as of now (June 2010) MOST of the proceeds have finally been turned over...approx $4800 was finally turned over to LAC from dissolved HSLC, Inc. That STILL leaves over $1200 unaccounted for!? SO ASK!! WHERE IS IT!? We cannot get an answer yet! Still trying!***

PLEASE - do to limited amount of foster homes at this time we cannot take in many pets, no strays ever, sorry. We pull from the local shelter all we can when their time is up. WE NEED MORE FOSTER HOMES! Please consider helping just one!! See our documents page for more information.
If you are missing a pets or need to report animal abuse or neglect please call the Lancaster Animal Control at 803-286-8103.
If you cannot hold onto the pet & cannot find a new home or rescue - you must bring the pet to the LAC - just bare in mind that 98% of the cats/kittens do not get out alive & 83% or more of the dogs/puppies do not get out alive. Owner surrenders are first to 'go' when they run out of room, which is all too often, sadly.
Due to Petfinder rules & lack of follow-up by people we can no longer do courtesy listings on petfinder.....we apologize...but PLEASE use the CLASSIFIED section on Petfinder.com to re-home your pet, always be careful & screen people, there are evil people out there!

The Humane Society of Lancaster, SC (HSLSC) is just caring individuals that can't sit by and let the poor lost souls be forgotten. We want to wake up & shake up Lancaster County, SC to start really caring about the pets here. We want owners to be held accountable for the abused, forgotten, & neglected pets here!
We assist our local shelter (LAC) as much as we can! We assist rescues when they want to pull from Lancaster County Animal Control. We also provide some transportation for those that are a distance away, or first leg of a transport. We do all we can to save as many as we can!

Our normal adoption process consists of an adoption application with vet reference (personal reference if you do not have a vet), approx $50 - $300 adoption fee for canines & $50 - $150 adoption fee for felines, which includes UTD shots & worming & a pre-determined portion will be refund after required spay/neuter is complete & proof submitted to us. If pet is already spayed/neutered coming to us the fee is less, unless we (HSLSC) have paid to s/n them, then we must charge a higher adoption fee to cover our charges. (**Some fees and refunds may vary depending on circumstances of pet, this will be determined and written on the adoption contract.)
We do have a pre-adoption clause which requires payment & contract signed up front, then after reference checks are done (we ask 3 days to do this) you can pick up your new family member!
